About
simple. modest. presence.
SMP started the way many real stories do — with two people in Queens, NYC, trying to balance faith, work, family and the quiet hope of building something of their own.
We were constantly choosing between pieces that covered but didn’t feel like us, “modest” options that were stiff or uncomfortable, or beautiful outfits priced far out of reach. We wanted clothing we could wear to class, to the masjid, to Eid dinner or a wedding — without having to compromise our values or our comfort.
From that small frustration, a bigger dream grew. SMP became Simple Modest Presence: a modestwear brand rooted in the everyday life of American Muslims, but made to carry you through your most special moments too.
Every design starts in Queens, NYC and is brought to life in Bangladesh by family and people have become family. They are the backbone of SMP. We don’t see them as “labor” — we see them as partners in a shared dream, and we grow together. Choosing ethical, small-scale production means we move slower, but it also means we know who makes our garments, how they’re treated and how each piece travels from their hands to yours.
Our abayas, kaftans, hijabs, thobes and panjabis are meant for real life and real occasions: school runs and late-night groceries, Eid mornings and nikkah days, quiet prayers at home and big family gatherings. Calm colors, thoughtful prints, full coverage and comfortable fabrics come together so you can feel at ease in your body while still feeling beautifully dressed.
SMP is an American dream in progress — a family-led brand trying to do a little better for the community, one garment at a time. When you wear our pieces, we want you to feel that someone thought carefully about your modesty, your comfort, your presence… whether you’re standing in line for coffee or walking into a room full of people you love.
From Queens to wherever you are in the world, you’re part of this story now.
What we stand for:
simple by design
Clean lines, calm palettes and practical details like easy drape and pockets — pieces you can reach for without overthinking.
modest with dignity
Full coverage that still feels beautiful and considered. We design for Muslims and anyone who prefers the modest way.
presence over performance
Our clothes aren’t about shouting for attention. They’re about helping you show up as your quiet, confident self — in everyday spaces and at special events.
ethical, family-rooted production
Designed in NYC, handmade in Bangladesh by family and people who are like family. We honor the people behind each garment.
community at the heart
Pop-ups, Eid bazaars, student events and DMs — we listen, learn and create with our community, not just for them.
